It would be great if you get that one - they are really wonderful. If it were downstairs, it would heat the whole house (warm air rising)
That was also kind of what I was thinking!! hehe. It would not be as easy to heat the whole house, as the flue for the chimney is in a room under the kitchen where the fireplace used to be, and we'd probably have to put a chimney liner in (metal pipe instead of the plain brick...for those who don't know what a liner is.lol) but it would be worth it!!!

Re: The Mealmaster Coal Cooker
WE got the chimney repaired, ( couple of cracks,) the old tiles removed, and an insulated liner fitted, for $2000.. Basically a new chimney, with a good cap for that price is great. The Hot Spot, in Greenville did it.

Re: The Mealmaster Coal Cooker
We don't now what condition the current chimney is in. Won't take much to find out...just some time. I have no clue when it was last used. Right now, we don't have the funds to re-do the chimney...so, I'll be happy with my ventless gas heaters for the time being. Wood use is for further down the road.

Re: The Mealmaster Coal Cooker
We lived here for six months before we had the funds to do any thing - I wish we could have afforded to do the floors when we moved in - knowing the ceiling heat worked would have been nice too - we had a cold winter. I am so glad we have actually got a wood stove for cooking now - been intending to buy one for a few years, but never had the funds for the work needed in all our other houses over the years - this house had a chimney - none of the others did. Too many people get rid of the chimney nowadays.
When we have the plumbing finished, and the new kitchen finished we will have a home completely different to the one we bought seven months ago. It will be so goooood.
