Spring is under way.

It arrived. Springtime in the mountains - the grass shot up over the last couple of days, needed mowing big time, when last week it had is dry dead look, now all green. Got the grasshopper mower out of the shed and checked it out, jumped on and had a pleasant hour of mowing, before the fuel warning sounded.. So back to the shed just in time. Froggy is happily mowing the lawn in front of the house, also low on fuel, but she can push the small mower. This spring we will be marking out a garden, if I can get the walking tractor fixed - it has a brush hog and a tiller implement, as well as a one furrow plough, but vandalism in Indiana damaged it - been waiting four years to get fixed as with the tractors in Washington we did not need it, so did not spend money on it. Procrastination is a bad thing. I should have fixed it before I needed it.

We intend to build a hawk proof run and coop for chickens, maybe get a small breed goat or two, and get this homestead running.

Today, the Frog and I bought fifty perennial flower plants and one scented rose bush. Froggy had cleaned out the front raised bed yesterday and this morning, so this afternoon we went to a nursery and bought the plants.

We decided where they should go, placed the pots then stood back to see what they looked like - then Froggy planted them all. She has gifted fingers, unlike me, who makes a mess of planting anything. Tomorrow, We will photograph the result, and hopefully I will remember to post it here. emoticon

Very much looking forward to the pics.

I'm so happy that the Frog enjoys her garden. Give her a hug from me, please.

It had definitely arrived here. My Peony's will be blooming any time!
Daffodils, tulips, grape [sign in to see URL] the trees and the forsythia are all blooming.

Muladzh, to bad you don't live closer to us. I would give you some. We have to remove at least 8 rose [sign in to see URL] very old, fragrant ones. I'm going to try to save some. But I really have no room.
I'm keeping the lilacs as [sign in to see URL]'s of bulbs, I have no idea what to do with them.. emoticon

Oh, Queeny, I wish I were nearer - old fragrant roses are getting rarer and rarer - I would dearly love to have some, but a couple of thousand miles is a long way to come get a rose bush.

emoticon Yeah, I imagine it is!!

I think I have my Mom talked into letting me replant most of the roses out at her place.
She is one of those 'strategic' planters. Her roses have to be in a [sign in to see URL].
Well, not any more! I'm putting them around the fence line, around her other plantings... emoticon emoticon
And I'm sticking "BULBS" in between everything else!! emoticon

Queeny, you rebel you! emoticon

Might a local plant nursery take the rose bushes if need be?

Froggy planted a few more plants and another rose bush - a Crimson Julia Child.. Roses have extraordinary names. I had to mow the grass again, two days after last time, the grass is shooting up. I managed to mow an area that last season I did not think I could get the mower on - it is a flat part of the hill, to the right of the driveway - about where the uncut grass is in the picture - it will be a good place to put a couple of raised flower beds. --Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

I find it quite amazing that this picture shows a gentle hill, when in fact it is seriously steep. I will try get a better picture and post that. Though... look to the extreme right, on the road - that is a pick-up truck that is dwarfed by the hill.

The picture is courtesy of Google Maps, street level pictures©.

Nice of Google to provide us with a pic.

Yes, I can see that the slope to the right of the drive way is actually rather steep!

So, where are the flowers? emoticon
