I used to run cold all the time. [sign in to see URL] or about that. Working to get my metabolism higher...

I believe that will help with the sinuses and eventually weight loss. Instead, I've been gaining. *sigh*

Re: The importance of metabolism in health.

When the metabolism is recovering, it is often noticed that weight gain occurs for a short while - When the body gets used to the fast and slow carbs, protein and fats in a comfortable amount, you will enter the fat burning level. Don't fret, just keep the portions small enough to keep hunger at bay. It takes a while, sometimes, but just think about the amounts, keeping them small. Some people keep the food intake the same, and start snacking between meals - this has about doubled the amount of food they eat - that is not the best approach to this. Imagine that the meals are snack sized smaller than before, so that when you eat the meal and then the snack you have the same amount you would have had with the meal, had you not reduced it. I am finding that I don't want to eat any where near as much as I did, just be snacking regularly. I am not shrinking rapidly, but am feeling better, less bloated, more comfortable, so I will keep it at the same level. It can take a month to get things going in the right direction, so take it slow and easy. In my case, it has taken ten years to get to this weight, I can certainly take a while getting set to lose it all again. IF I were not doing this regimen, I would still be feeling bad, and getting bigger.

That sounds like a good idea. I am noticing that I'm full faster.

Re: The importance of metabolism in health.

From time to time, I have kept a food journal, so tend to remember what I have eaten. Nowadays I am eating portions that are a third of my recent past meals, with snacks that are a piece of fruit, or berries, a bit of cheese, being ten times smaller than recent past pieces, and drinking much less. My almost constant dry mouth that Paleo eating gave me has gone, now I am hydrated well, with a tenth the amount of fluid intake.

A pack of burgers, a favourite easy meal, used to last a couple of days - now they last a week. We buy bags of Atlantic Cod - that used to make two meals for each of us.. they now make eight meals. And we are less hungry, feel far more cheerful, and don't care any more about things that used to stress us, like diet, and weight, and such.. We are fine, temperatures are fine, BP is much better than it was, heart rate is much better than it was - the most amazing thing is I am no longer grumpy, instead I am laid back, and nothing stresses me. That is a first for years.

I am finding the metaphysical work I do all the time now works better, is faster applied, and keeps going. A definite advantage. We should have gone this route when I first learned about it, thirty five years ago......

Thank you for the [sign in to see URL] time I've been able to get back in here. But I think knowing what kinds of things to eat, and when to eat, probably helped with the anxiety of being at the hospital, especially that first [sign in to see URL] was in surgery 8 hours, we were there much longer. I also helped Mom with some choices and our "snack bag" that I packed had the right stuff in it... emoticon

That is so wonderful, Queen Beth, I am so glad you were able to get benefit from the right stuff.

I am finding life so laid back nowadays - nothing fazes me, nothing is stressful, even things that used to get my heart racing are now even keeled. We eat six or seven times a day, eating what we want, balancing it with slow release carbohydrates and keeping out temperatures much higher than before. I am running in the high 98s most of the time, but Froggy is a whopping 99˚+ most of the time, waking up in the high 98s. She is much happier, though daily she asks if we have gone mad, or are we really benefiting from the amount of food we are eating.

I think it may be [sign in to see URL] energy, Firle's protective shield, you teaching about right eating. But this has been one of 3... weeks from hell that I have been through in my life, and I've had the easiest [sign in to see URL] energy levels have stayed pretty [sign in to see URL] after another 10 hour ER visit last night. My empathic problems seem so much easier to take, and I just feel stronger overall... emoticon
