Talk about anything on Earth thread!

This is the place to start chatting about anything at all - literally anything that does not break the Runboard guidelines....

I have noticed that there are more and more people writing books about things they really don't know anything about. Mainly diet or magic..

Too many people think they know about nutrition but prove otherwise within two chapters of the new book they are pushing.

Magic is even worse - Quick rule of thumb. A written down spell will never work... If you don't make up the spell, and fill it with your energy, you are going to fail. A grimoire used to be a book of ideas, written by an ancient practitioner who really did do magic. They never had spells in them - to write them down and keep them makes them invalid, so modern writers got it wrong. Most annoying.

Light bulbs...

Why did the current government decide to ban light bulbs? The good old fashioned incandescent type? It would be far more use banning the use of gas guzzlers - that would save billions of dollars over a ten year period. Force vehicle makers to make efficient engines.. They do it really well in Europe, why not here? and leave the light bulbs alone.

If you are like me, and don't like the curly fluorescent lamps or the harsh LED ones, buy appliance bulbs - you can't put either of the other type into an oven and expect it to work, so Appliance bulbs, from 7W to 40WWill always be made. That and antique bulbs - GE make some, and they will always be made. Christmas bulbs are still being made the old way, buy up a bunch of them, and have red night lights.. We have decided that when all the alternatives are gone, leaving only the fluorescent curly bulbs and LED, we will start using the Aladdin kerosene lamps we have, and go to bed early. We both hate the way the modern alternatives make our eyes feel.

Imagine a huge bubble, in the sky.. I saw such a thing today. I have no idea what it is.

I love waking up early. The city is quiet, almost no traffic (especially on the weekend), I can hear the birds and I can hear my thoughts.

We are up early today, in preparation for the widow guy. It would not be amusing, if he failed to show.

Magic ... I still think I'm a weather witch at times. I'm getting better at making rain wait until I get home. I send storms around where I live. And I get sun on weekends.

Nothing wrong with that, girl, we do that everywhere we go, I do not like getting wet. (even the Frog enjoys messing with weather, and she is the serious one.)

I enjoy doing it in a benign way. Like the rain we got on Thurday - a gentle rain, ready to soak the parched earth rather than the downpours they predicted. It started before I had to go to work but I kind of knew I would walk to work in rain. The extra hour was needed. And it stopped when I wanted it to stop, as I was leaving work. And I got home from town five minutes before a serious downpour, which did no harm as the ground had opened up in the morning and could absorb the rain.

It's fun. emoticon emoticon

I'll do that. emoticon

Sometimes, I try to put a shield on my balcony, to stop the wind driving in the rain (my protective tarp is torn, need to replace it). Hasn't worked so far.

But since there is always wind around the office building where I work (14 stories will do that), I can get plenty of practice.

I'm also thinking about what people call the law of attraction. I believe it works, but in a specific way. Wishing works - when you don't focus on lacking what you wish for. If you wish in a fun, happy and completely detached way, then it happens.

Practicing that, as well. emoticon

I don't like bugs that bite - that includes beetles, flies, true bugs, jointed wasps, etc. etc. we have an acre of hill that has to be mowed, and cannot be done by push mower, so the Grasshopper does it. It disturbs thousands of shiny black round beetles, that bite. I get covered in the bloody things, and get literally hundreds of small red dots all over me - they get into clothing, footwear, and my beard..... Annoying little bastards..... I have been trying to communicate with them since we moved in, but so far, no luck. I can reason with the wasps and bees, and with the big beetles to a certain extent but those little biting buggers are deaf.

Saw a very long black snake exiting the crawl space this morning. This means that there won't be many mice around, which is good. Hopefully it can get the chipmunk that likes to cause mayhem under there.
