Faerie Garden

I'm so proud of myself. I got my Faerie garden started today.

I have some small bushes and a Leopard Lily planted under my HUGE Maple tree. I have some sun catcher type thingies hanging from the branches of the tree (3 of them), and have a rock border that I made from rocks out of the veggie garden. I also made a concave type "shelter" with rock and have a HUGE rock just sitting in the garden at the moment. I'll be taking it out, cleaning it and painting some kind of design on it. I am thinking of buying a really cute bird house I saw, but putting in on the ground as a Faerie [sign in to see URL] maybe decorating it somehow with silk flowers and such.
I also got some woodruff planted under the tree [sign in to see URL] well as a Foxglove next to my porch. I NEVER to the [sign in to see URL] does, but today, I did this. It was my project, and I did it. Got my hands in the fresh earth. At one point, I just covered my hand with [sign in to see URL] was so cool, and relaxing.
I can't wait to expand my little garden.
[sign in to see URL] also got some garden [sign in to see URL] of [sign in to see URL] says LIVE, one says LAUGH, and the other says LOVE.
As soon as DH gets me some top soil, I'll get my herb garden planted out back. I'll do that one by myself, too. I've discovered I truly LOVE getting my hands in the dirt, and planting things.
If I can figure out how to get some pics of the Faerie Garden on the computer, I'll post some. It's nothing spectacular yet, but it's a beginning, and I'm very proud of it. I finally carried thru with a [sign in to see URL].

Congrats, Saijen! Your faerie garden sounds lovely. Especially the sun catchers must be great. I'm sure the faeries will just love it. emoticon

And yes, isn't it wonderful to complete a project? emoticon

It sounds lovely. I want a Faerie Garden but have to wait until the youngest one will stay out of it.

Re: Faerie Garden

It got added to today. I found the cutest little woven straw bird house at Walmart, so got it, and 2 Faerie plant stakes. I wired the house to a rock so it won't blow away (also so the bottom won't rot by sitting directly on the ground), and added another rock so it looks kind of like a rock porch. I put one of the plant stakes just to the side of the house, and the other further out near a big rock I'm painting with designs. I also dug up a pretty fern looking plant I'd planted several years ago in another spot and transplanted it into the garden. That gives me 4 plants, a house, 2 Faeries, a rock border and 3 word stakes. I'll eventually spread the garden around the base of the tree, and add more Faeries, maybe a frog or turtle and some gnomes if I can find some I like. This tree has roots that are above ground. It's an OLD OLD tree, so there are nice lil niches to tuck things into here and there.
The rock, I'm painting some butterflies and a neat design that I've got on some other stuff. I'll do those in shades of metallic sapphire, black, yellow, maybe a metallic silver and possibly pink. Not completly sure on the butterfly colors yet.
This will end up being an ongoing project for a while. I'll add to it every year till I get it like I want it. I MAY even see about putting a small fountain there. Not sure about that one just yet. Anyway, it feels really good to be able to get out there and mess around. I'll pay for it at some point, but for now, it's all good.

Re: Faerie Garden

I got my big rock painted and sealed. I was able to put it back out in the Faerie Garden yesterday afternoon. I also extended the rock border a ways. I need some more large rocks to get it around where I want it for now. Eventually, that will also be all the way around the tree. I need to rebuild my little rock "cave" I had, but have to wait for drier weather for that. If I can find a flat rock to use as a "roof" I'll put a roof on my little rock "cave". I may end up getting a couple more of those woven straw bird houses to use as Faeried homes, as well. They just seem to fit perfectly for what I am using them for. I may do some shopping in that direction tomorrow while I'm out and about.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to make it a nice Faerie Garden? I'm open to any and all.

So much progress!

What do you think of a little bunch of feathers, to dangle and fly in the wind?
