Baby goats in 2014!
Our first goat gave birth early this morning! She was a few days overdue so we were checking on her at night. There's a note on the door where we write when we checked so that people don't overlap too much (i.e. if I get up at 12:30 and see that my mom was out at 12:00, I just crawl back into bed!). The last check had been at 3:45 AM. I got up at 5:30 AM and was tempted to not brave the 37F weather in my jammies. But I stepped out and immediately heard the call of a baby goat! I ran out and helped dry off the first baby while mama gave birth to number two. Both girls! YEAH!
For some reason, I can't upload to photobucket at the moment. I did put photos on the Sand Holler Farm facebook page. I'll post photos here when I can!

Yes Bianca. The next goat isn't due for 5 more weeks. It's also good that it's 2 babies so we can pull them and bottle feed if that's what we want to do. If the first goat only has one, you can't take the baby to live alone. We still haven't decided how we are going to manage the dairy herd this year...

Oh, I love these baby goats. They are so cute.
I still miss my goats. I used to raise dairy goats but that was a long time ago. I loved them so much.
